The Architect

Horizon Design, LLC is a full service
architectural firm specializing in the
design of residential and resort
condominiums. Lewis C. McKinney, Jr., as
director, has designed numerous projects in
Alabama, South Carolina, Florida and
Mississippi.
Currently, the firm is producing
construction documents on several projects
along the Gulf coast as well as Smith Lake,
Alabama. Design is underway on new projects
along the gulf coast from Panama City,
Florida to Gulfport, Mississippi.
Horizon Design is directed by Lewis C.
McKinney, Jr. He previously served as
President of McKinney Frese Architects, Inc.
Mr. McKinney graduated from Auburn
University in 1979 with degrees in
Architecture and Environmental Design. His
career encompasses the design of corporate
offices, retail banking facilities, country
club and resort properties, custom
residential and condominium projects.
Mr. McKinney has served on committees within
the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, the
United Way and served as President of the
Birmingham Chapter of the American Institute
of Architects. He obtained his NCARB
certification in 1992 and is currently
registered in Alabama, South Carolina,
Florida, and Mississippi where his work has
earned him numerous design awards. Mr.
McKinney has completed specialized studies
in Office Building Design and Golf Clubhouse
Planning at the Harvard Graduate School of

St. John & Associates, Inc.

St. John & Associates, Inc. is the
Civil/Environmental engineer on the Emerald
Point Condominium project.
The Cullman firm, started in 1991 by
principal and chief engineer Bill St. John,
is providing site design services for the
development.
Their work includes site grading design,
erosion control planning, utility design,
and developing the plans for the roadways
and parking areas on the property.
Dale Bright is the Emerald Point project
manager for St. John & Associates. He brings
a great deal of experience with similar
developments to the project as well as the
full resources of the well-established local
engineering firm.
