Experience Beaches of South Walton where 14 eclectic
beach communities await your relaxing beach vacation.
Beach lovers heading to Beaches of South Walton this year will find wider
beaches than they have in years thanks to a recently completed beach restoration
project. The project added 75 to 100 feet of beach, creating wide expansive
beaches for vacationers to the area.
More than five-miles of beaches along the western portion of Beaches of South
Walton, in and around the Sandestin area, have been restored. Planning for the
project began seven years ago with a search to find the perfect match of sand
off the coast. After finding sand that was as sugar white as the native sand
permitting began.
Beaches of South Walton remains the only destination in the nation to have all
26-miles of coastline certified as "Blue Wave" beaches by the Clean Beach
Council. This seal of approval helps vacationers identify well managed beaches
that are safe, clean and pristine.
Beaches of South Walton, which includes 14 beach communities in the Florida
Panhandle, is recognized for its natural, unspoiled beauty. Pristine and
environmentally sound, the area's beaches offer emerald-green water, fine
sugar-white sand and meandering coastal dune lakes, which create a unique and
varied landscape. First time visitors are amazed at the miles of unspoiled
beaches and natural habitat. Regular visitors have discovered this area as a
hidden jewel of the Florida Panhandle and return year after year.
